We the undersigned are dismayed at the amount of modules that have been cut from the academic year of 2010/2011 at the University of Leeds German Department, particularly for those entering level 3.
As an institution that prides itself on providing students with flexibility for choosing their modules, it appears this is not the case. Many popular modules have been cut which affects all students, but particularly those on single honours German in both level 2 and 3, leaving them not able to choose modules they want to, but rather choosing modules that they have to.
We understand that due to university wide cuts that some modules may have to be discontinued. However, we would like a compromise, particularly on level 3, for some more modules that are taught in German and are not literature based, and, if possible, able to make a contribution prior to the decision making process of what modules to run.

I can completely sympathise with all the students going into level 3, you need a choice of subjects as literature isn't everyone's strong point and nor what everyone goes into languages to study. Also the Business and Translation modules are 2 of the best
