Unlock The Motivational Posters Thread

For over a year the "Create Your Own Motivational Posters" thread on the Rooster Teeth website has been active, with daily contributions to the topic. The purpose of the thread was to create humorous "motivational" (often referred to as "DEmotivational") posters which contained satirical humor, sarcasm, irony, or any other content which may be found funny.

The basic format of the motivational posters (hereafter referred to as "posters" or "the posters") was to have a picture, followed by a black border with white captions, which usually add to the humor of the poster.

Many people find the posters to be hilarious. However, there are also many people who disagree completely with these posters, finding none of them funny at all. These people have the option of not viewing them, so they can completely ignore the thread and everything would be fine.

But on December 6, 2008 at approximately 1:00AM EST (GMT -5:00), the Site Admin for Rooster Teeth going by the pseudonym "RoadBlock" took it upon himself to lock the Motivational Posters thread. His reason for doing so was quote, "for fail".

How one can make such an arbitrary decision and with such little explanation as to why is incomprehensible. Even after many comments and messages from users demanding an explanation, RoadBlock remained silent as to why he locked the thread.

As stated before, those who do not find the posters amusing can avoid the thread overall, but many people do enjoy them, and many people have the thread in their watchlist. The thread has almost 30 pages with a minimum number of text posts, leading many to view it as a successful thread.

Which is why we must sign this petition and send it to the Rooster Teeth staff and RoadBlock to try and get our thread unlocked.
