'Weather Report', one of the most popular, influencial, revolutionary and inspirational groups of the rock/jazz/fusion band of the 70's and 80's, is a group worshipped almost as much today as it was during their existence, with legends such as Josef Zawinul, jazz star Wayne Shorter, and the exceptional, late Jaco Pastorius. However - with the group disbanding back in the 1980's, many fans of today can't witness, first hand, the delights and wonderment of Weather Report and their infamous members.
Weather Report were a truly international band, known and followed from and to every continent and pulling in all different types of music fanatics. They came alive during their live performances, of which there were many in the group's element. However, for fans of today there are not such opportunities to see them and their energy come alive during their live performances and so this petition is being written to urge the release of what must be a wealthy archive of Weather Report and Jaco Pastorius video material.
Bands like Weather Report were inspirational in their time and if anything, their hold on the music industry has increased as time has passed. Everyone should be able to witness their talents and sheer originality and help give birth to not only a new breed of players, but new breed of listeners.
