west indian creek repaving

Over the past two weeks, AQUA has upgraded the water pipes on our street. Since this is a private street I have contacted AQUA to get information about how the street will get repaired after the project is completed. I have learned that ONLY the half of the street which was worked on is going to get paved since that is what was factored into the budget.
Through some discussions with an engineer from Lower Merion Township, I have learned that this type of repair is typical and usually happens approximately 4-6 weeks after the pipe is put in. AQUA says they are standing behind their work and that any problems that come up in the next two years will be addressed. I have informed them that the main has burst twice in the past two years. Due to the poor repair efforts, the asphalt on the street is now buckling. All of this information was explained to the engineer.
In his opinion we have the right to request that the entire street be repaved especially since we are responsible to maintain it ourselves. Furthermore, I was informed that in some similar situations around the neighborhood, the full width of the street was paved.
The reason I am bringing this to your attention is that I believe that due to weather, paving half the street will result in the asphalt peeling, eventually requiring us to spend our own money once again to pave the street.
In response, I urge you to log on to sigh the petition page that I have created,or call Mr. Miller from AQUA, who is in charge of this project, or call him directly at 610-541-4163.
Our voices need to be heard within the next two weeks.
