Why cant students have their own meetings with teachers and the school board?

There are constantly parent teacher conferences but the students hardly ever have a say in their school. Students are the ones affected by the budget cuts and other changes that are causes of the parent teacher meetings. So in reality the students should be the ones discussing and creating solutions to the problems. Most schools never get things done because of being hazardous with money and changing policies due to student recommendations. So the solution is to make the student voice heard loud enough so that it has influence in the policies of the schools future.


This could have a huge beneficial effect in the long run because if a student feels that his voice is heard then the student would feel more obligated to give their opinion and make change. If a student feels he cant change anything he wont even bother because he wont care of the outcome. Students in high school are unable to vote for the American government so why not let a student have some say and teach them the importance of thinking about other things then themselves and more about what happens around them. In reality its the government that affects the students the most is the school board. In order to prepare students for the voting process when they are older is to get them involved with the school government. Parents would still have a say but students would have their opinion taken in consideration.
