Such a development has the opportunity to bring value to all the neighboring communities, as well as years of public enjoyment. However, it should not be at the expense of the established community. This reserve that will be used to develop the new parking lot is the most used reserve by our residents for many types of recreational activities throughout the entire year. We currently have horseshoe pits, a tire swing, a volleyball / badminton net, and a newly added picnic table as of 2011.
While we recognize the significant recreational area that will be publicly available through this development, it is extremely important to our community to maintain this particular green/park area for a number of reasons, most important being the safety of the children that play there. Not having to cross through a parking lot, the road and venture beyond what we consider to be the safe boundary of our neighborhood. Furthermore, it will border 5 residential lots whom would prefer not to have a parking lot as their new view.
The lot owners directly adjacent to the purposed parking area make up over 15% of our community, with their dis-approval of the parking lot location along with the support of the Wilson's Beach Community Association Executive, we strongly urge the planners to re-locate the parking lot area. It seems almost unreasonable, with the available space in the proposed development, to put a parking lot next to residential lots in a lake community. There is ample room to allow for parking facilities on the south side of TWP 41-2 while maintaining a convenient location for public access to the beach/boat launch access.
The County and Developers should utilize the donated land to accommodate parking for this development. I do not agree with the parking lot location detailed in Phase 1 of the Anderson Park Develoment.
