Dear Viz, LLC, and Shonen Jump:

I am creating this petition as a call out to you that the longtime fans of Yuugiou/Yu-Gi-Oh! are overall very unhappy with the translations and editing presented in Shonen Jump magazine and the Graphic Novels that come from it. Many, including myself, have noticed that you use various translators for various manga, and we would like you to ask the Yuugiou/Yu-Gi-Oh! translator(s) to translate their manga more in the fashion of another popular Shonen Jump title, "Rurouni Kenshin".

The reason many fans are pleased with the translations of "Kenshin" is that the manga retains much of its original Japanese feel- this is helped by direct furigana translations, keeping names in Japanese form (Last name, then First name), and the fact that "Kenshin" translations keep the Japanese name suffixes, such as -san, -kun, -chan, -dono, and others. We feel that these suffixes are important because they provide a feel for the characters- for instance, in Yuugiou/Yu-Gi-Oh!, we can tell that the character "Yuugi" is very polite from his use of suffixes. On the other hand, the character "Jyonouchi" does not use any suffixes, therefore giving off the air that he speaks in a more impolite manner.

We also like the "Kenshin" translations because those translations adhere more to the original manga, and not the English dubbed version of the anime based on "Kenshin". Lately, the Yuugiou/Yu-Gi-Oh! translations have leaned more and more towards how the English version of "Yuugiou Duel Monsters" translates and edits things. It has been voiced by many fans on the Internet and "real life" that we are unhappy with how the English dub of Yuugiou/Yu-Gi-Oh! does things, and we would like a direct version of our favorite manga.

In conclusion, I, and the undersigned, would like to ask Viz, Shonen Jump, and Anita Sengupta (the translator of Yuugiou/Yu-Gi-Oh! as of March 2004) to translate this manga more in the fashion of the "Rurouni Kenshin" translations. This includes Japanese name suffixes, Japanese names for cards and some games (For instance, I am sure "Yami no Games" would be preferred over "Shadow Games"), new spellings of the names, and taking a direction closer to the original manga, and not the English version of the anime.
