Although we as students understand the need to respect the privacy of all parties involved in employer-employee contract negotiations, we would like to articulate our appreciation of Malcolm as a teacher and an invested member of this community. As a teacher Malcolm is extraordinarily capable, caring and presents organized and engaging lessons. He is also exceptionally concerned for his students progress. This overwhelming concern is also evident in actions pertaining to his tutees and towards members of the greater community. Additionally, his commitment to Adriatic College and this movement is overtly displayed in his devotion to the UWC ideals and his participation in numerous extra-curricular activities. Moreover, we would like to express that Malcolm has had many years of experience in economics at this college that is conveyed in his lessons and he would be irreplaceable. The loss of Malcolm as a member of this community would have devastating effects at an academic and social level. It is unquestionable that without Malcolm, this college would be a poorer place.
In conclusion, we would like to emphasize the value of community at a United World College and the worth of each individual within it. We as students, not only have the right to take an interest in our education, but also a responsibility to care about those that have, and will, educate us. Therefore, we call upon the administration to reconsider their decision with regard to Malcolm and would like to demand the re-implementation of him as a teacher at this college and a member of our community.
