DNA Testing of South Carolina Inmates

Money sent to the E.H. Cooper Trust Fund for these inmates is sent there by family members as a gift to cover the cost of items that the inmates need such as cosmetics and food stuffs from the prison canteens and it should not be used to pay for testing.
South Carolina and the South Carolina Department of Corrections have already been given money by the Federal Government to cover the cost of this testing however, they chose to use the money for something other than what it was intended and now they want to take money that we send to our incarcerated loved ones to cover the cost. This is wrong.
As tax paying citizens of South Carolina, we have the right to equal representation by our elected officials even though we are loved ones of prisoners and we have the Constitutional right to have our voices heard in our government therefore, we demand that Governor Mark Sanford, Senator Mike Fair and Director Jon Ozmint stop this action at once.
It is bad enough that innocent family members of prisoners in this state are already robbed blind by the kickback taken by this state on prison calls and it is time for our government to stop robbing us.
It is not our fault that our elected officials and Director Ozmint misused the federal funding that they were given to complete this testing and we should not be forced to cover the cost.
